There is no natural disaster that leaves a more destructive path than addictive disease. Alcoholism, for example, is like a cancer. Cancer begins as a small tumor somewhere in your body and begins to grow. You don’t even know that you have it. There are no signs or symptoms. But, as the disease progresses you begin to get certain symptoms. However, these symptoms could be many different things so you just ignore it--while the tumor grows to be inoperable.

Alcoholism is much the same way. It starts out as simply having a good time. However, now we can identify three distinct stages of alcoholism. We can identify a growing alcoholic way before the physical addiction stage.
