HYPNOSIS, THE GENTLE GIANT
Here is your opportunity to learn the principles that have weathered the test of time. Franz Anton Mesmer was the first to begin using the principles of hypnosis, in what he called Animal Magnetism, in 1777. Although Mesmer produced a hypnotic trance in hundreds of people, he was quite unaware of the fact. It was his student, Marquis Armand de Puysegur who discover the hypnotic trance, which he termed "Artificial Somnambulism," which he equated with spontaneous somnambulism from the natural sleep state. However, it was not until 1841, that Dr. James Braid coined the term hypnosis and uncovered that the success of Animal Magnetism was due to suggestion.
